Thomas L. Friedman To Speak in St. Paul

Noted author (“The World Is Flat”), New York Times columnist, and Minnesota native Thomas Friedman will be speaking on behalf of Shalom Green at the St. Paul Rivercenter at 8PM on June 23, 2009 to talk about how the whole world needs to go green.  Ticket information can be found on the Shalom Green website.

Thomas Friedman is a wonderful speaker whose views on world affairs bring a practical and thoughtful perspective to some of the most difficult problems we all face, from glabalization to the problems in the Middle East.  He’s a frequent guest on PBS’s Newshour With Jim Lehrer and Charlie Rose, and I watch the listings for his appearances just because he makes practical arguments without an overt political agenda and has a great spirit of optimism.

Changes in Travel to Canada

If you’re one of the many Minnesotans who plan to drive to Canada for a vacation, you should know about a recent change in US law for returning citizens that requires a US Passport to re-enter the country.  There are exceptions for children, members of the military, and Native Americans.  For more information, see GetYouHome.gov.

If you’re looking for a great place to visit up north, check out my client Bob Lebron’s Ontario Fishing Camp.  Bob’s a great guy and his whole family runs this camp for great fishing, hunting, and eco-tours of the Lake of the Woods area.  His website will show you the comfortable cabins and other facilities in his resort in the Sioux Narrows area.
