Cirque du Soleil’s touring production OVO is hitting Minneapolis this month, and friends of Twin Cities Staycations can receive a special discount coupon for select performances!
Cirque du Soleil has announced that it will open in Minneapolis with its touring big top production, OVO, starting Thursday, May 26th, 2011. OVO will perform for a limited engagement under the trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at the Mall of America in Bloomington.
OVO is a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. The insects’ home is a world of biodiversity and beauty filled with noisy action and moments of quiet emotion. Fun for the whole family!
I’m looking forward to seeing this wonderful troupe of acrobats, jugglers, and clowns who are all amazing atheletes! I’ve only been to one live performance of Cirque du Soleil before, but it made me a lifelong fan. It’s part circus, part acrobatics, and all lots of fun.
Here’s a great staycation right here in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area with a special discount on tickets available to Twin Cities Staycations readers.

I went to see a preview showing of Cirque du Soleil’s OVO on Thursday evening, and it was spectacular! It’s a non-stop thrill ride of acrobats, jugglers, trapeze artists, dancers and clowns accompanied by some fabulous music. Shows like this don’t come to Minneapolis very often, so you don’t want to miss this one. Kids and adults will thoroughly enjoy this new show by the famous Cirque du Soleil. Be sure to check out the discount coupon available to Twin Cities Staycation readers.
The show is presented under the Big Top in the north parking lot of The Mall of America, so it’s easy to get to from anywhere in the area. And there’s lots of good parking. I’ll be writing a complete review soon, so stay tuned!
I forgot to mention something…
There’s a souvenir shop at the show filled with all kinds of stuff from exotic masks to t-shirts and toys. Some of the stuff is pretty pricey, but there’s a discount available if you use an American Express card on purchases over $75.00. They offer a must-have program that’s about 40 pages of wonderful pictures with descriptions of all of the characters and includes a page of stickers for the kids. It’s available in a package with a CD of the wonderful music for $20.00, so it’s easy to reach the $75.00.
