  1. I usually pride myself on sensible winter driving, but I nearly got myself stuck coming home on Sunday evening. Actually, I did get stuck trying to drive a side street into our alley, but a neighbor took pity on me and pushed me out of the snow and back into the ruts so I could escape back to a Snow Emergency Route that was plowed. I knew I was taking a risk, but I was tired and anxious to get back home so I barreled into a barricade of snow where the city plow had passed when clearing the side street in the intersection. It’s been 20 years since I was foolish about winter driving, and I swear it will be another 20 before I make that mistake again.

I have to go out again today. Here’s hoping that my car hasn’t been tagged or towed.
